ADVISORY: Commissioner Kevin Morrison, Community Leaders and Candidates to Host Press Conference at Broadview Demanding Answers about Sunny Naqvi

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Kevin Morrison, community leaders and candidates from across Chicagoland are demanding answers following the detainment of US citizen Sunny Naqvi by ICE. A press conference will be held on Sunday, March 8th at 2pm at the Broadview ICE Detention Center, 1930 W. Beach St.


Sunny Naqvi, the sister of a close personal friend of Morrison’s, was detained along with two other US citizens and three Green Card holders following their return from an international work trip on Thursday, March 5th at O’Hare. Naqvi was eventually released in the early morning hours of March 7th from a Detention Facility in Dodge County, WI.


Morrison will introduce Naqvi at the press conference tomorrow, which will also include Kat Abughazaleh, Congressional Candidate in IL-09, Reed Showalter, Congressional Candidate in IL-07, and Demi Palecek, State Representative Candidate in IL-HD13. Leaders are demanding answers and accountability from DHS.

Kevin Morrison is a Cook County Commissioner and candidate for Congress. In 2018, he made history as the first openly LGBTQ+ and youngest-ever Commissioner, as well as the first Democrat to represent his district after beating the incumbent who was also Chair of the Illinois Republican Party.
