Commissioner Kevin Morrison Announces More Key Endorsements On His Congressional Campaign

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Today, seventeen more local leaders in Illinois have given their support to Cook County Commissioner and Democrat Kevin Morrison in the race for Illinois’ 8th Congressional district, joining over 180 local and national leaders – including five sitting members of Congress – in backing his grassroots campaign.
“I am proud to endorse my colleague Kevin Morrison in his campaign for Congress,” said Cook County Commissioner Bill Lowry. “Kevin is a proven, thoughtful, and principled leader who never backs down from a challenge and who always stands up for what is right. He is the type of voice we desperately need in Congress, as we fight to preserve our democracy and to restore faith in our government. I am honored to support him.”
Joining the support, Mayor Dan Tannhauser of Norridge and Mayor Nunzio Pulice of Wood Dale have also endorsed and given the following statement: “As mayors from across the 8th Congressional District, we face big challenges every day – and we need a representative in Congress who picks up the phone when we call. That’s what Kevin Morrison has done as a county commissioner, and that’s what he’ll do in Congress. We’re proud to endorse Kevin Morrison because we know he’ll always listen to us and fight for our communities.”
Kevin Morrison has also been endorsed by changemakers in the state; the first female Illinois House Majority Leader, Barbara Flynn Currie, the first openly LGBTQ+ county party chairperson in Illinois, former DuPage County Democratic Party Chairperson Ken Mejia-Beal, and former Cook County Circuit Court Judge, Thomas Chiola – the first openly LGBTQ+ person elected to public office in Illinois – who are ready to see Kevin make history.

ABOUT KEVIN
Kevin Morrison is a Cook County Commissioner and candidate for Congress. In 2018, he made history as the first openly LGBTQ+ and youngest-ever Commissioner, as well as the first Democrat to represent his district after beating the incumbent who was also Chair of the Illinois Republican Party. On the Board, Kevin has been a leader on mental health, small business, the environment, public safety, and tenants’ rights. Kevin has delivered results for working families and marginalized communities.
