Kevin Morrison Building Momentum With Key Victory Fund Endorsement

Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison today announced a major endorsement from the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, the only organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ+ people to public office.

The endorsement marks a significant milestone in the race for Illinois’ Eighth Congressional District and serves as a real representation of the momentum that Kevin Morrison has built since launching his campaign just two months ago.

"Kevin Morrison was the first openly LGBTQ+ person elected to the Cook County Board, and he has spent his entire career fighting discrimination," said Evan Low, President & CEO of The LGBTQ+ Victory Fund. "We are confident that when Kevin Morrison wins this election, he will be an unwavering voice supporting LGBTQ+ rights in Congress."

Kevin Morrison said this about the monumental endorsement: “The LGBTQ+ Victory Fund is an organization that I have been so proud to support over the years. I remember how thrilled I was when I received their endorsement in my first race. This endorsement today shows our campaign’s viability, and I couldn’t be more proud to have their support.“

Across the country, LGBTQ+ people remain vastly underrepresented in public office, holding just .2 percent of elected positions, despite representing at least 7.2 percent of the U.S. population, according to the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute.

This endorsement is the latest sign that support is coalescing around Morrison’s campaign. With new voices joining the effort every week, Kevin Morrison continues to draw attention, build strength, and energize voters across the district.
